blue moons and blue dog dreams
i woke up because the bed was shaking and i thought the sun was up.
actually velcro was dreaming and the most amazing moon, bright as morning, was setting in the west as the sun was rising in the east. i could see both from the windows in my bedroom - beautiful.
i ran out and took a picture and then of course the batteries in my camera died.
i wonder what velcro dreams about when she dreams. she runs and whines and convulses. i like to imagine she's dreaming of herding cattle and chasing rabbits, but it's really only conjecture on my part. only she knows the contents of her dreams and she's not telling.
i was dreaming too, that i was in an FLW house in california, i think it was la miniatura (the millard house http://www.millardhouse.com) in what seemed to be the 40's. i had a great 40's hairstyle and fabulous 40's clothes and classic bright red lipstick. i was in charge of something going on at the house - a party? a lecture? a remodel? yes, seemed more like a remodel or redecorating project, like i was rolling out plans. when i was dreaming, everything was in great detail, the conversations, the sequence of events, one of those dreams that seems real, but the details slipped away from the sudden awakening.
i do remember clearly though that i was talking to a woman sternly - i was busy and she was working my last nerve. she was getting flustered about selling the ennis house, which was not the FLW house we were in, but another in california. she was a silly and sheltered woman who kept wringing her hands, dabbing her eyes and demanding attention as she fretted about selling the ennis house. she had an entourage with her that fed her tantrum and my exasperation. i sat her down, grabbed her shoulders, looked her straight in the eyes and asked her, "what do you need to do to sell the ennis house?" over and over until she finally admitted that she really didn't need to do anything and calmed down.
that's when i woke up. perhaps it's the coming blue moon or maybe some of velcro's dreams spurring my own. i haven't had a concrete dream like that in a long time.
no pun intended - even though the FLW houses in california are all concrete block.
it was a dream that left me with a very interesting and positive feeling - perhaps a foreshadowing of something to come. hmmmmm...

die 2009 - with a vengence?
it's interesting to see how ready my virtual friends are to kick 2009 out the door:
HARD.
on its ass.
down a flight of stairs.
apparently 2009 has been trying for many. or maybe we're all just cynical, hateful bitches. i do love my haters.
i really can't complain much - i traveled a lot for fun (chicago, port A, santa monica) and with the exception of a couple concussions and some staples in my head, i made it through the year without a major injury requiring surgery to repair.
well, so far - there are still a few hours left till 2009 is officially over and i did buy fireworks and champagne yesterday - anything could happen.

wow
i remember starting this blog, but i didn't realize it had been SO long since i posted.
so here i am again, waxing poetic, as many of us tend to do as the year comes to an end.
i've been off work for about a week. well, not actually off, but at least i've been at home and not in the office. it feels good to relax, get some things done and have some time to think about what i really want to do in 2010.
honestly, what i'd really like to do is win the lottery - hey, a grrl can dream, can't she?
i got an awesome elliptical for christmas from my folks, so i finally moved my desk back to its original place in the guest room, with an amazing hill country view. i'm hoping this will inspire me to write more this year. outside of work and twitter, the only other writing i've really done over the past year is checks for bills, and not even a lot of that, because i've got just about everything but the feed store hooked up with online billing.
so this is a start of what i plan to be a far more prolific year for writing than the past few have been.
happy 2010 to me!!!
